Channel 4 have scheduled the final Green Wing special for Thursday 4th January 2007. Their official blurb is:

"The critically-acclaimed Green Wing is back for a one-off Christmas Special. From the award-winning team behind Smack the Pony, this genre-defying comedy proves medical issues needn't have any relevance in a hospital setting. As the mayhem and madness continues, how will it all end for our favourite dysfunctional medics?"

"The end is nigh – Caroline (Tamsin Greig) is now engaged to Guy (Stephen Mangan), while Mac (Julian Rhind-Tutt) has very little time to live. Gripped by desperation and paranoia, dwarf-killing duo Statham (Mark Heap) and Joanna (Pippa Haywood) are on the run, jumping relentlessly out of frying pans and into fires (not quite literally). With no-one left in charge, the admin girls let their basic instincts run wild, while something very strange has happened to Karen (Lucinda Raikes) after her fall from the window. Boyce (Oli Chris) discovers life without Statham, Sue White (Michelle Gomez) spots a job opportunity and Martin (Karl Theobald) feels utterly helpless. Again. Still, at least it all ends happily ever after. Or does it?"

Bizarrely the special will be shown in Australia first on the UKTV Channel at 9pm on Friday 29th December.

The special will be available to buy on DVD from Monday 8th January 2007. The set will contain the 90 minute special plus exclusive unseen extras including deleted scenes, an alternative ending plus a behind-the-scenes featurette and a cast and crew audio commentary [More Info]
