Extras/Peep Show up for British Comedy Awards

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators of Extras, will compete against each other in the Best TV Comedy Actor category at this year's British Comedy Awards. David Mitchell and Robert Webb (Peep Show) have also been nominated. Extras is also up for the People's Choice Award and Best TV Comedy (Peep Show and The Thick of It are the other nominees in the latter category).

Elsewhere, Catherine Tate, Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd) and Tamsin Greig (Green Wing) have been nominated for Best TV Comedy Actress and Star Stories, Surburban Shootout and That Mitchell & Webb Look will slug it out for Best New TV Comedy. Curb Your Enthusiasm, Everybody Hates Chris and The Office An American Workplace are in the running for Best International Comedy Show.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, 13th December. The ceremony, hosted by Jonathan Ross, will be shown live on ITV1 at 9pm.
