After a seven year absence from our screens, Rab C. Nesbitt could make a comeback in 2007. The news that BBC2 is considering bringing the drunk Glaswegian back for a ninth series follows the sale of the show's producer, The Comedy Unit, to RDF Media.

But fans of the show should not get carried away. A script has been commissioned and not a series as has been reported elsewhere. The BBC has informed the British Sitcom Guide that the project is in the early stages of development only.
