Blackadder cast to discuss revival

According to reports, the cast of Blackadder is planning to get-together later this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the comedy's debut on BBC2, and they will be using this opportunity to discuss the possibility of making a new Blackadder series for 2010 too.

The cast and crew will be taking part in UKTV Gold's Blackadder Exclusive: The Whole Rotten Saga and Blackadder's Most Cunning Moments. Each will feature interviews with the stars as they remember their experiences of working on one of the nation's best comedies. Additionally previously unseen footage of the sitcom will reveal the cast in rehearsals and celebrity fans including Jeremy Paxman will also talk about their favourite scenes.

Blackadder, which starred Rowan Atkinson, Tony Robinson, Tim McInnerny, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, was named Britain's second favourite sitcom in a 2004 BBC TV poll. The cast last reunited in 2000 for Blackadder: Back & Forth - a single special which was shown at the Millennium Dome before being broadcast on Sky One later in the same year. Since then, over the last eight years rumours about a possible return for the much-loved sitcom have regularly re-surfaced but, to date, all have turned out to be just wishful speculation. It is yet to be seen whether this latest story will turn out to be in the same vein.

Tony Robinson, who played Baldrick on the show, told Teletext: "We always had a fantasy of doing it again in 2010, so we'll be having that conversation. I would love to do it and suspect Rowan Atkinson would too."

UPDATE: According to The Sun, Rowan Atkinson has snubbed the reunion show. A show source told the paper: "Rowan is very private, he doesn't do interviews and he rarely makes public appearances. It was a shame that he wouldn't appear on the reunion shows as all his friends were delighted to join us. But Rowan sent his apologies."
