More details have emerged about BBC Three's plans for a new Friday Night Live style weekly entertainment show which will feature live comedy, music and celebrity guests. The format is being developed after BBC controller Danny Cohen announced he wanted a show like Channel 4's The 11 O'Clock Show and Friday Night Live on BBC Three to help uncover new talent.

The planned series has now been given a working title: The Wall. It is so named because the action will revolve around a huge video wall which will allow viewers to react to the show in real time. According to Broadcast Magazine, viewers will be able to make suggestions and send in their own questions for celebrity guests whilst the programme is on air.

A website to coincide with the show is also now in development – it will allow new talent to audition online for the opportunity to perform on the show, with the audience both in the studio and at home rating them. Viewers will also be able to submit jokes, upload their own sketches, rate each other's contributions and access extra content on The Wall's website.

Cohen said: "The Wall is a dedicated showcase for the next generation of British comedy and entertainment talent. It feels like this kind of show has been missing from British telly in recent years."

After a fiercely contested battle, the commission to produce the series has been awarded to Zeppotron, the production company behind such shows as Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, Nathan Barley and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
