Not the end of Dibley after all

The New Year's Day episode of The Vicar of Dibley will not be the last we see of Geraldine and her villagers after all. Writer Richard Curtis has revealed that the sitcom will return on Red Nose Day 2007 for one final short episode.

Curtis told BBC Radio Five Live that viewers can expect "a little 10-minuter to keep them going" on Comic Relief Night (the bi-annual telethon he founded in 1985 in response to famine in Ethiopia) in March 2007.

The scriptwriter admitted it would be tough to create the new short as Geraldine's marriage (which was the plot of the latest special) has changed the dynamic of the show. He will have to be careful not to ruin the ending of the New Year's Day special which appeared to be the final sign off for the show.

This makes the 20th episode, which was shown on Monday, the third 'false ending' of the sitcom - will Curtis ever finally really finish?!? - who knows!
