Wednesday 14th May 2025, 4:14pm

Digital Laughs

A new comedy night is launching in Newcastle Upon Tyne in July.

Digital Laughs will take place in Digital, the nightclub on Times Square. The club promises "top names from the comedy circuit" to "bring big laughs to the Toon and a cracking night out".

The launch show on Saturday 5th July 2025 (doors 6pm, last entry 6:45pm) will see host Si Beckwith joined by Nabil Abdulrashid, Esther Manito and Dean Coughlin.

The night is the brainchild of comedy company Little Robot, who explain: "Best known as a nightclub, Digital have been programming an exciting and unique programme of events, gigs and shows to adapt to changing times and give people nights out to remember. Bringing Nabil Abdulrashid, Esther Manito, Dean Coughlin and Si Beckwith along for this show, they've tapped into some of the most exciting, inventive and creative stand-ups around.

"Aiming to bring new comedy nights to the city, this partnership is aiming to build on Newcastle's cultural output and add to the buzzing nightlife of the city, with a chance to see some of the comic talent in the country in unique spaces."

Promoter and comedian Si Beckwith comments: "Newcastle is such a vibrant, cultural city and I've always wanted to do more in the city centre. (I live a 15 minute walk from the city centre, so it's nothing if not convenient.) The partnership with Digital offers us the chance to go big, bringing some top, top acts to a venue that has been a cornerstone of Newcastle's nightlife for years. They've adapted wonderfully to the city's changing habits, with a nightclub becoming a perfect events space and comedy club. The line-up features some of my favourites, and it's a standard for our nights we're both delighted with and determined to build on.

"This city is special, and we want to add to the superb work of The Stand, Alphabetti Theatre, the tour shows at the city's theatre's and the independent nights in the city centre like Shy Bairns, Silly Billies, Lee & David Productions and more to make our city a city of comedy."
