Eric Longworth RIP

Sad news, Eric Longworth who played the Town Clerk in the greatest sitcom of all time 'Dad's Army' has died at the age of 90. Eric, RIP.

Strange one actually, according to the Manchester Evening News he has just died, but according to Wikipedia he died in August. Anyway, it's a new one on me.

Yet his obitury was in today's Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/3062751/Eric-Longworth.html

When did he die?

Penultimate paragraph in the Telegraph article:

"At the end of his life he moved to Peterborough to be close to his son Ian. He died on August 20, four weeks after his ninetieth birthday."

So there you go.

RIP and that.

Eric Longworth has passed on. Is no more. Has ceased to be. Is expired. Is dead. Fact.

Dad's Army 'the greatest sitcom of all time.' Debatable.

For everything else there's Mastercard...

He lived in Peterborough? Wow, that's where I live.

Eric died back in August, not too long after the big Dad's Army 40th Anniversary event at the War Museum in London which he attended.

How many of the cast are dead now and how many survive?

Pike, Jones, the Vicar and Hodges spring to mind as still being around.

Oh, and the lesser known Private Sponge.

Mrs Fox (Pam Cundell) is still around. The writers are also still with us.

Glad I'm not the only one with that particular misfortune.

Not debatable, more non-negotiable I would have thought! :)

I can't think of a better sitcom.
