I was looking forward to that, but I gave up after a page cos it's just a long character piece. Nothing wrong with that, but as a fan I was hoping for something more informative.

Late follow-up, but there's an article about a 'proper' Rik Mayall biography. As I said, I didn't bother with the autobiography 'cos it's just an extended Bottom out-take.

Alexei Sayle - Thatcher stole my trousers

I'm a fan of 'Lex, but his autobiographies are spoilt by his arrogance. He genuinely believes he's single-handedly responsible for the entire alternative revolution.

This book is simply tedious

And yes he is a big headed sod

If you look at some of the very early stand up he did , most of it was absolutely dreadful

There's a clip of him performing on OTT and he dies on his f**king arse

It's embarrassing

I actually liked him on that, but he left over 'creative differences'. He was creative and they were different.
As I wrote in another thread, he just took on too much work. Six TV series is milking it, and the last one (Merry Go Round) is - not really bad, but you can tell he's run out of steam. How can I fill this episode...?

This is grrrreeeat, though: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nnz7LApE0PY&pp=ygUZYWxleGVpIHNheWxlIHBhdWwgZGFuaWVscw%3D%3D
