For the ladies...

"We know that not every writer is a performer, so this an opportunity for those happier behind the scenes to truly shine. That's why we're happy to be continuing the Comedy Writing Award in 2013, in association with award winning comedy production company The Comedy Unit, and leading news platform The Huffington Post.

Andrea Mann, Comedy Editor of The Huffington Post UK, had this to say about working with the Comedy Writing Award this year: "As someone who likes to champion women in comedy- as well as being a woman myself- I'm delighted, as Comedy Editor of The Huffington Post UK, to be involved in the Funny Women Awards. There are so many brilliant, funny women trying who deserve to have the spotlight shone on them- especially those who work behind the scenes as writers- and I believe these awards help to do just that."

I couldn't find a post on this already, if there is, feel free to take this down.

Anybody interested?

Rather surprised this is being promoted on BBC Writersroom as there is a £15 registration fee. Isn't Writersroom for free opportunities only? Isn't that why Sitcom Mission isn't promoted on there?

I didn't see that, but it's a small sum.

controversial

It would be wise of them to answer, especially as many american contests seem to make a business out of scriptwriting contests. But taking a small fee can possibly get rid of some unserious applications.

But you are talking around bush. If you are not interested, why does it matter is they charge or not?

Best innuendo of the day

Its an interesting subject is all

Do you need to pay?

I don't see anything on that link about payment - Sooty's link is about a 2012 comp.

Yup its the whole pay to play controversy

Just to confirm - this competition is free to enter.

Have you confirmed that with them, Jennie?

On the competition page it says 'Entrants must be registered for the Funny Women Awards in order to enter (link below).' And when I click on the link it won't let me register unless I pay £15. Is there another way of registering for free?
