Video Upload Sites

We're looking at uploading some of our content on various video upload sites. I'm aware of the following:

Youtube
Myspace
Crackle
Metacafe
Revver

Anyone recommend any other good ones ?

Someone posted a link to a video on LiveLeak.com yesterday. I've never heard of most of these before though.

(I've also been told about pornotube.com, but I doubt that your content is of a low enough calibre to qualify. Laughing out loud)

I'm surprised there isn't a BoobTube... or is there?

Liveleak seems to be for news footage (mainly from Iraq), high speed car crashes, or fish eating live mice. Much like Metacafe......

Posting on YouTube Nick is probably best if you're looking to reach a large audience and allow people to easily distribute your content around the web (e.g. via Facebook etc). The 'post your videos' functionality on our new site will mainly be based around YouTube.

Google Video is best if you have a longer video (they don't require you to break it into parts). It's also a better quality picture and larger viewing area. Google are shutting uploads soon (as they're changing it to become a search only tool following the buy-out of YouTube). No doubt some of the others you mention will take over the quality batton though.

I hate MySpace so, like many people, don't watch anything on there. That said, if your content is aimed at teenagers its probably worth uploading there.

But the compression on youtube makes our flash animation look even worse than it is ! Youtube seems OK for live footage as long as shot on a decent camera i.e. not a cam corder.

There are just so many sites ! It's become a bit of a joke......although not a particularly amusing one.

dailymotion
brightcove

as well seem to be in the mix.

Yeah it's a bit of joke, I'm finding a new one every week! Although it could work in our favour to have lots of competing sites. I've already had one editor from a site seek me out and ask me to upload to them so they could feature me.

Check out tubemogul.com. Their bulk upload tool will become increasingly more valuable as they integrate with more sites.
