Hoorah! When did the Pathetic Sharks return to not terrify the pages of Viz ? They're in this month's issue. Anyone still read Viz? I grew up on it - and it's now just as funny as when it wasn't as funny anymore. Actually this month's issue seems to be a return to form.
The pathetic sharks made Viz.
And the bum faced goats! Chris Donald's autobiography (i think it's called rude kids) is a fantastic read. Unless you weren't into Viz of course. In which case you're an idiot. And probably can't read anyway.
Never read Viz, it's probably great, but I'll never know. 
you should. especially if you're into writing spoof news stories (which i think you mentioned previously)
When I got to 50 I decided not to buy it again. Soon got back into old habits though.
My favourite Viz characters have to be
1. Finbarr Saunders
2. Mrs Brady
3. Biffa Bacon
4. Mr logic
5. Roger Mellie ....and on and on and on
For me the best part of viz was the top tips and letterbox creased me up..

Big Vern was a great character.
And yeah, if your writing spoof stories, read viz (you'll pick up old annuals cheap I'm sure) because they we're the king of them.
