Hello, I'm New Here...

Hello, I'm new here. Stumbled across this forum by chance when I was looking to confirm my own prejudices about some of the current British comedy output.

Also, in the interests of shameless self-promotion to plug my blogs:

"Celebrity Hitlist" - a spoof gossip column @ http://celebhitlist.blogspot.com/

"The Mystery Of Muckle Fugga" - a serialised novel, sort of inspired by The Wicker Man, which I am beginning to wish I'd never started @ http://mucklefugga.blogspot.com/

I would love to write for a living. Or at least write one thing that could enable me to retire early. Therefore, open to collaborative projects or other opportunities that might come up.

Cheers then.

Hi! Wave

What were they?

I went on a couple of weeks ago to see what people thought of "Come Fly With Me". I thought it was moderately amusing and not entirely deserving of the slating it seems to be getting from some quarters. It's old style character comedy, but at least it feels fresher than "Little Britain" did by the end of its lifespan.

I also went on to read the debate about Frankie Boyle. I think he's a sharp comedian who seems to have lost his way. Some of the material is funny, but some of it seemed pointlessly offensive to me. There's an assumption that failure to "enjoy" Frankie Boyle means that you can't stomach more extreme forms of comedy. I don't mind extreme, but I like a well constructed joke too.

Only from spastics.

See what I did there?
