Sounds recordings of Pete and Dud found

The 6 O'Clock News on Radio 4 tonight has reported that sound recordings of 13 of the 14 wiped episodes of Not Only... But Also have been discovered.

News story (27.40 in)

Good news!

Very exciting, I hope the BBC make them available soon.

Only took them a week to report it from when the find was (AFAIK) first announced!

Found as part of this year's Raiders of the Lost Archive push.

Recovered by Charles Norton from the collector Graham Webb (soundtracks only):
Graham Webb is a retired writer who lives on the Isle of Sheppey. Between 1965 and 1980 he recorded a vast number of programmes from both TV and radio. He was using a 4-track tape recorder on quarter inch tape. A lot of the shows that Graham recorded were comedy shows, and on the whole, the recordings are of generally good quality.

I must admit I was far more excited before I noticed "soundtracks only", but nevertheless good news.

I think that someone should report these sorts of stories for the guide as soon as we know about them - that way we would be first to the story.

That would be nice, but it's journalists 'following the money' isn't it?

Great to see that news of the discovery of previously lost material by two true legends of the comedy world has garnered such interest on this comedy website. Unimpressed

Sorry about that. Obviously it is good news, it is just that it would be nice to know about this sort of thing sooner rather than later.

Sorry, I meant the fact that almost no one has posted on this thread, when this is a pretty big deal!

Maybe it will pick up when the guide reports the news story on it. I've sent Mark a story but it get getting caught in his spam filter for some reason.

The only people who have seemed to have reported it are the BBC radio news. No-one else has covered it, not even Chortle.

EDIT: Here is the story: https://www.comedy.co.uk/news/story/00000393/lost_not_only_but_also_recovered/

There's not a lot to say until we hear them. Unless you want a raging argument about whether or not it's a good thing they've been found?

I don't think it's that odd to suggest, on a comedy website, full of people who love comedy, that a few people would post something along the lines of 'Wow? Really? This is great! Can't wait to hear them!'

And plenty of people comment about shows before hearing/seeing them.

Wow! Really? That is great! Can't wait to hear them!

I'm just excited that we might get a news story before Chortle.

Epic eye role.

Yes, people talking about comedy, on a comedy website, weird.

Thankfully a lot of the best stuff on NOBA such as the Dagenham Dialogues don't really depend on the visuals
So hopefully there should be some good stuff to look forward to.
