INT. PSYCHOLOGIST'S OFFICE - DAY

A DOCTOR STUDIES HIS SUBJECT. THERE ARE PICTURES OF RORSCHACH TESTS ON THE WALLS.

DOCTOR:
...and you understand what the test involves?

SUBJECT:
Sure, you show me an image and I tell you what I see, right?

DOCTOR:
That's correct. Okay, if you're ready, let's begin.

HE HANDS THE SUBJECT A CARD.

DOCTOR (CONT):
What do you see there?

SUBJECT:
Um, I see... two guys f**king.

DOCTOR:
Okay, that's fine. How about this next one - what do you see?

HE HANDS HIM A NEW CARD.

SUBJECT:
Two guys f**king.

DOCTOR:
Right. And this one?

HE HANDS HIM ANOTHER CARD.

SUBJECT:
Two guys f**king.

DOCTOR:
I see.

SUBJECT:
Any chance you want to show me some of those inkblots now?

DOCTOR:
(READING ALOUD AS HE MAKES A NOTE) "Subject demonstrates total immunity to subtext..."

The reveal is that instead of being shown Rorschach tests the subject is being shown pictures of gay sex. The doctor hopes this will get the message across that he wants the subject to have sex with him. Laughing now?

I don't think the punch works, tbh.

But neatly crisply delivered

I thought it was a great sketch. As long as you understand it whilst reading the first time, the punch line is perfect IMO

I had to Google him. The "Take My Wife..." guy, right? Did he do a similar gag then?

I'm thinking, for the sake of accessibility, that showing the audience what's on the third card (ie a photo of two guys f**king) would do the job.

I assume the gag sootyj refers to is the old chestnut, "You have sex on the brain." "I have sex on the brain? You're the one who keeps showing me dirty pictures."

To be honest this gag came into my head with the first mention of Rorschach, which could explain why I was wrong-footed and failed to get where the punch was coming from.
