Erm, do they? Machines that sell stinky schoolgirl knickers, I never knew that and it's certainly not the reason I'd visit Japan.

I had a friend in the US Air Force who was stationed in Japan. He told me that every now and then, those vending machines would get broken into. The local media always blamed it on Westerners, even though it was horny Jap thieves that stole them.

A regular summers day here in Ottawa is 25-30 Celsius (77 to 86 Fahrenheit).
It's the beginning of Spring right now (the tulips in my front yard are starting to grow) and it was 16 Celsius.

Montreal is less than two hours from us. We're practically the same weather. I'm originally from Sudbury (6 hours North west of Ottawa) and it's pretty close to the same weather.
Winters are a bit too long, but I'm telling you it sure does makes you appreciate summer!

There's also the 'Chikan' problem of Japanese men groping women and girls on crowded trains and buses and in public places. Even though thousands of men are arrested each year, the estimates of public transport abuse are in the hundreds of thousands because of the Japanese culture of sexual shame. The majority of Japanese women simply don't report these crimes. In fact they would rather let it happen than make a scene on a train. The problem has grown to such an extent that many trains now have a women only safe carriage with a guard.

All of which doesn't include the proclivity for torture porn, tentacle rape, scat sex, and the almost unbelievable fact that in Japan it's completely-legal to possess child pornography.

I'm no great fan of Japan, having lived there, but it's not alone with its disturbingly low age of consent. The "technical" age of consent in the Vatican is 12 (for marriage), 13 in South Korea and parts of India, 14 in China, Germany and some other parts of Europe, while in some Muslim parts of Asia and the Middle East local religious authorities will allow a girl to enter an arranged marriage at under 13. Also, some prefectures in Japan have issued local legislation making it a criminal offence for adults to engage in sex with minors (aged under 18).

I saw plenty of porn while I was in Japan but didn't see any "schoolgirl rape" - perhaps because I didn't watch any anime.

What disgusted me most about Japan was that authorities have refused to acknowledge how dreadfully their military behaved during World War II - especially the forced sexual enslavement of women in occupied countries.

Throughout the course of my amorous adventures in Japan, I didn't experience any crying or protesting during intercourse, although there were moans of pleasure. Mostly it was just outright rejections though.

I was a student there for the first three years, but most of my mates were local lads, so I got to visit such lovely areas as Page Moss, Huyton and Whiston. I also went out with a girl from Crosby so know that quite well. The last two years I was there was definitely not the typical student experience.

Just for the record, I loved Liverpool. I've not been back for nearly two years so have no idea just how bad concrete and glass have been allowed to mess up the city.

Not sure I agree with this. Dublin's pretty much like any other big city, but that's not reflective of most of Ireland. IMO It's a beautiful country, the people are great, the Guinness is great but the weather is shocking, and unless you want to pay a fortune the food isn't great either.

Take away many of the Australians, especially those who are excessively earnest, and it's a lovely place. Much cleaner and less polluted than so many other countries in Asia.

Too far away for me.
A person who doesn't enjoy planes should not spend an entire day on one.
Nothing they have in Australia could make that worth it.
