Songs for your funeral

I was thinking about this the other day. Well we can't last forever can we.

A friend of mine said that she wanted "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown as she's being cremated.

For me though while people are coming in "In my life" by the Beatles and while I'm going "And when I die" by Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Just a shame I won't be there to appreciate it.

I have read lots of times that people have chosen the Countdown clock theme to play as they go through the curtains.
It's so popular that all funeral directors have the tune in stock.

I imagine it brings a smile at a very sombre time.

I have had mine on my computer for about 10 years now, telling my children as such much to their pleasure, and surprisingly for me in doesn't include any Beatles, instead for me the finest writer of heavenly music - Vangelis.

So, coming in I want "Cosmos"......................

..........which never fails to move me to tears as it kicks in at around 35 seconds, and for going out, Vangelis again with "Light and Shadow"................

.............., which again doesn't help with the tear(s) down the cheek for me.

Straight to Hell by the Clash

Joke

I remember my mum singing this to me as a toddler to make me nod off so it's a song that means a lot to me.

For me it The Rainbow Conection which will surprise my family.

Welcome back Herc. I was fearing that we were too late.

Let me echo Chappers in welcoming back that old reprobate Hercules!

Yes! We thought you were hating us all. ( maybe you are).

Not myself, but I remember a similar question in a TV program and the song mentioned was:
"Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye!"

Thank you, thank you, thank you, and yes I am still alive (good thread for this, what?) but just passing through, not over.

What are the best songs to use for a funeral? I lost my mom yesterday, and she told me several times that she would like to have an orchestra on her last way...

Seriously though when my Mum died I chose a song for her (in the absence of finding her choices anywhere) that was very appropriate and I remember she owned and was played a lot as I was growing up.

"Every time we say goodbye" by Ella Fitzgerald.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a parent is never easy, and it's understandable that you want to honor your mom's wishes for her funeral.
