Finding the funny in your sitcom

Jokes! They are essential to any piece of comedy. Jokes come in many forms, but, broadly, in a television sitcom, there are visual and verbal jokes (there are jokes that rely on conjuring up visuals on radio, too, but obviously these often absurdist images have to be communicated using dialogue and sound only).

It's difficult to teach people to write jokes. There are, of course, joke structures - but creating humour, verbal or visual, is rarely as simple as plugging concepts into a formula, and writing down what comes out the other end.
