Amused Moose Laugh Off 2015 competition open for entries

Amused Moose Laugh Off

The Amused Moose Laugh Off is now inviting entries into its 2015 competition.

The contest, which aims to seek out the next big comedy stars from new talent across the UK, has in the past featured winners such as Sarah Millican, Jack Whitehall and Rob Beckett.

The organisers explain: "The Amused Moose Comedy Awards have proved to be a fantastic shop window for new talent, with finalists being quickly signed by leading agents and promoters including PBJ Management, Chambers Management, Avalon and Off the Kerb."

The Amused Moose Laugh Off entry process has changed somewhat from previous years. Applicants are now asked to submit a video instead of turning up to a heat, with a panel of judges using these clips to determine which acts should progress to the live quarter finals.

The organisers say: "This innovative process ensures that the Laugh Off entrants will all be seen by a substantial number of comedy industry professionals including agents, managers, promoters, bookers, producers, critics and PRs in Australia, Canada and the USA as well as here in the UK - making this competition an even more effective way for new comedy talent to get spotted and get their career off to a flying start!"

The live quarter and semi-finals will be held in London throughout May and June with the final taking place on the 9th August as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Audience votes, as well as votes from an industry panel, will be taken into account during all live rounds of the competition.

As well as being given "the perfect platform from which to launch their comedy career", the finalists will receive a portfolio of professional photographs. The overall winner will also receive a trophy, "interim management and PR (if required)" and will be given the opportunity to perform as part of Amused Moose Comedy Showcases at London's Soho Theatre in the autumn.

To enter you need to have a short video clip from your comedy set uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. The clip must have been filmed in a comedy venue. Be aware that if you intend to submit a clip of yourself performing which is longer than 90 seconds, only the first minute and a half will be watched by the judges.

The deadline to enter is 31st March 2015.
