When BBC weatherman Bill Onion is fired in a departmental shake-up, it kicks off a blackly farcical train of events begins ends in humiliation for Bill, and an unexpected trip to a hospital clinic.
At his side throughout this sorry affair is his generally supportive wife Faith and best friend Jez, whose frosty partner Selina is something of a nemesis for Bill. Selina is systematically 'culling' all Jez's friends and is none too keen on Bill.
It's imperative Bill doesn't offend Selina in order to stay friends with Jez and meet Jez's friend Nigel Harrington, a big shot TV executive at Channel 4.
