Character guide

Matthew

Played by: Matthew Crosby

On the hairy face of it, Matthew is the most sensible of the trio. He's been to university, studied leisure and tourism, and wears glasses.

As well as those glasses he often wears a shirt and tie to his job, which isn't exactly a job, he's just temping at Carabine Promotions, a media umbrella company that umbrellas media things. Matthew's sister Rachel got him this internship because she's the office manager there and Matthew dutifully accepted because he is very dutiful.

Matthew is actually the most easily influenced, and is truthfully only playing at being a grown up. Matthew is eager to please everyone, longs to meet a special someone and wants nothing more than to be everything to everybody and not the nobody that nearly everybody assumes that he might be.

Tom

Played by: Tom Parry

Tom skipped higher education and instead travelled round the world, or at least crossed the channel.

Frankly, Tom was under-parented with a mum and dad who didn't show much interest in his life and as he took the ferry to France, his mum left the UK to become a year round cruise ship singer.

Tom's gainfully employed. He took the first job on offer when he got back from his travels: a postman, which suits him fine, as he clocks off at 10.30 and has the rest of the day to achieve his long-term goals. Actually, he has no long term goals, only short-term goals. He's an obsessive. He's the house cheerleader, who gets frustrated until the other two get on-board his crazy schemes.

Tom's in love with Matthew's sister Rachel in a perpetually unrequited way. He was horrible to her as a kid, but now realises she's just lovely.

In Tom's head he's realising his full potential in reality he's realising very little. And at times, he's also gross!

Badults. Ben (Ben Clark). Copyright: The Comedy Unit

Ben

Played by: Ben Clark

Ben never finished college. He's not that bothered.

An only child, Ben's parents doted on him as a boy and dote on him still as a fully grown boy. Frankly, he's been mollycoddled. Matthew's flat is the first place he's lived as an adult and it's his first time on his own two feet, and he needs to be looked after. If anything, he is the surrogate son to Matthew, his surrogate Mum, and Tom, his surrogate Dad.

He has little interest in going outside the flat. He prefers it inside, it's safer there. Ben's ideal day is spent mostly in the bath, followed by watching three films in the afternoon and perhaps playing Fifa. He is easily pleased; content; by far the happiest of the three. He messed up childhood the first time, he's not going to mess it up the second time.

Badults. Carabine (Jack Docherty). Copyright: The Comedy Unit

Carabine

Played by: Jack Docherty

Mr Carabine is the owner, manager and leading creative director of Carabine Promotions.

Mr Carabine is the top dog, the big cheese and the full bhoona and he is more than happy to remind anyone who steps out of line exactly where they lie in the pecking order.

Ever eccentric Carabine runs a tight ship and his number two (Rachel) backs him up at every possible opportunity.

With a fierce reputation for firing his employees for even the slightest mistake, he makes Matthew and the staff extremely nervous - much like Lord Sugar, every invite to the boardroom could be your last.

However, underneath that gruff Scottish business exterior is a gruff Scottish party animal and when the mood takes him, he can be an even bigger kid than Matthew, Ben and Tom.

Lucy (Series 2)

Played by: Katherine Ryan

Meet the new worker at Carabine Promotions. She's already charmed her boss, Carabine, and left her co-worker, Matthew, utterly confused. Does he love her? Does he hate her?

She's lovable goof with ferocious ambition who, somehow, might just end up running the company or perhaps even causing its downfall.

Badults. Rachel (Emer Kenny). Copyright: The Comedy Unit

Rachel (Series 1)

Played by: Emer Kenny

Rachel is Matthew's younger sister, who treats him as her younger brother.

Rachel is in full time employment as a super slick office manager at Carabine Promotions, a media empire in its own media village. She always looked up to Matthew and wanted to follow in his footsteps but after a short spell living with him post university, she realised that looking up was a waste of time.

She always wanted to be part of the boy's gang, but she was the younger sister and so the boys instead tortured her dolls and dismissed her.

When she was 14 she had a crush on Tom. But then she grew up, she now lives with her boyfriend Andrew. He's what she thinks she needs rather than what she actually wants and Tom's always on hand to remind her of this fact.

She's quite jealous of the fun Matthew, Tom and Ben are always having and on the occasions she joins in and 'fun' Rachel slips out, there's no one you'd rather hang around with.
