An unlikely conceit perhaps, but no less probable than the existence of Rising, the fictional village setting for last night's Up Rising. [...] Billed as "a rural sitcom" (an ambitious claim, considering the almost complete absence of jokes), last night's episode eschewed the conventional device of satirising the ways of country folk, in favour of comprehensive unbelievability.
