Series 3, Episode 9 - Science

Comedian Tudur Owen rewinds the funniest, most fascinating clips from half a century and more of Welsh television. This time he's pushing back the boundaries of science and discovering a world of arcade games, bionic councillors and Welsh rocket men, full of lively characters from the nation's TV past.

Further details

In this episode of Tudur's TV Flashback, he boldly goes where no-one has gone before - to explore the funniest and quirkiest TV moments within the world of science.

A year 2000 report from Carmarthen visits one of the first pubs to put a computer in their bar. For the small cost of a pound, customers can surf the internet and check their emails whilst enjoying a drink. Founded by two Welsh businessmen, the new company, Cyberpub, hopes that hundreds of more pubs will follow suit.

A news report from 1980 introduces William Morgan, who lives in a farmhouse in Pontarfynach. He uses a homemade generator and turbine to create his own hydro-electricity that lights and warms his home and livestock, saving approximately £400 a quarter on electric bills.

Other archive clips include a Swansea man who's building an aeroplane in his garden, an apparent UFO sighting in Pencoed and TV presenter Gaz Top speaks to the couple who built an observatory in Knighton.
