Hit comic musical Operation Mincemeat is to tour the UK in 2026.

A re-telling of the real-life story of how a corpse was used to trick the Germans in World War II, Operation Mincemeat has evolved from a small fringe theatre production to a West End smash hit.

The tour will begin in Salford in February 2026, at The Lowry, the venue which hosted the musical's first-ever scratch performance in 2017.

The production will then visit over 30 more venues across the year, with it currently scheduled to end in November 2026 in Crawley. Additionally a US, Canada and Mexico tour is planned for 2026, as well as China, Australia and New Zealand tours in 2027.

Operation Mincemeat: Tour Declared

Meanwhile the stage show continues in London's West End, and Broadway in America. It was recently announced the American version has been extended for a third time (through to February 2026), whilst the West End version received its fifteenth extension, meaning it will be at The Fortune Theatre until at least February 2026.

Operation Mincemeat has been nominated for 64 awards since opening at the 77-seat New Diorama Theatre in 2019, and the Broadway version is currently nominated for 4 Tony Awards. Since its 2023 transfer to the West End, the production has picked up 74 five-star press reviews, making it 'the best reviewed show in West End history.'

The synopsis explains: "In Operation Mincemeat, it's 1943, and the Allied Forces are on the ropes. Luckily, they've got a trick up their sleeve. Well, not up their sleeve, per se, but rather inside the pocket of a stolen corpse. Equal parts farce, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style spy caper (with an assist from Mr Fleming himself), Operation Mincemeat tells the wildly improbable and hilarious true story of the covert operation that turned the tide of WWII."

SpitLip, the musical's writers and composers, comment: "Broadway opened the literal world to us, and we couldn't be more grateful for every unpredictable twist of this astonishing journey. Most of all, we wish to thank the audiences who continue to carry this show with love and enthusiasm. Operation Mincemeat reminds us that in uncertain times, the bonds between allies are more important than ever - and that message feels especially relevant as we consider all the great nations in which our show will now have the opportunity to play. This show continues to be the adventure of a lifetime, and we're wildly excited about what's to come."

Original stars David Cumming, Claire-Marie Hall, Natasha Hodgson, Jak Malone and Zoë Roberts (pictured) have most recently been starring in the Broadway version. The UK tour cast will be announced at a later date.
