Richard Pulsford has won the UK Pun Championship 2022 competition.

The one-liner comedian triumphed at the live final last night (Monday 7th February), which took place as part of Leicester Comedy Festival.

The knockout "celebration of the British pun" show has been running since 2014. Taking place in a boxing ring, this year's show was hosted, as in previous years, by Jason Byrne.

The format sees the contestants having to deliver gags on various topics, with the audience deciding which of two comedians goes through to the next round. Pulsford's lines included "My old Looney Tunes app still has Bugs in it."

The other finalists in this year's competition were Pauline Eyre, Friz Frizzle, Iain MacDonald, Rob Thomas, Chris Norton Walker, Richard Woolford and Jenan Younis.
