The creators and stars of Gwyneth Goes Skiing are getting married at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Linus Karp and Joseph Martin, the couple behind the hit comic play about Gwyneth Paltrow's ski collision with optometrist Terry Sanderson, are performing their queer holiday rom-com parody The Fit Prince (Who Gets Switched On The Square in The Frosty Castle The Night Before (Insert Public Holiday Here) at this year's festival, but will also be tying the knot for real at a ticketed event at the Pleasance Grand on 16th August, just hours before that afternoon's performance.

Conducted by a licensed officiant and featuring guest performers from the Fringe, the event is believed to be the first legal wedding with a paying audience in the festival's 78-year history and the first LGBTQ+ wedding to be staged as part of the official programme, the Scotsman reports.

Karp and Martin, co-founders of Awkward Productions, have been together for 10 years and have also written and starred in Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story, but The Fit Prince will be the first time that they have played romantic leads on stage together.

Swedish native Karp portrays the heir to the throne of Swedonia, who must get married soon or forfeit the crown. Meanwhile, in New York, baker Aaron Butcher (Martin) is butchering his career as a family baker. His puppet colleague, the optimistic Jenny Puppetson, submits his name for a mysterious commission in a faraway land and he's accepted to bake the wedding cake for the Prince himself. Extremely reluctantly, and mostly to spite his ex, Aaron accepts ...

In a joint statement, Karp and Martin said: "I do."

The play runs from 30th July to 25th August at the Pleasance Beyond and tickets for the wedding are available from pleasance.co.uk
