10 hour Great Mirth Run returns to Manchester

Great Mirth Run

90 comedians will take part in The Great Mirth Run 2019 in Manchester, a 10 hour stand-up show for charity.

On Sunday 12th May comedians from all over the North West and beyond will line up for the third annual 'Great Mirth Run', in a bid to raise even more money for charity.

The "laugh-a-minute bonanza" will host nearly a hundred of the best up-and-coming comedians along with top industry professionals, who will each have five minutes to make the audience laugh.

Event organiser and compere Lukas Kirkby explains: "We've got everything from high velocity punsters to madcap characters to improv, so there's something for everybody."

All 90 slots have already been filled. Those taking part include Tom Little, Dawn Rigby, Paul 'Silky' White, Mike Carter and improv group Comedysportz.

Kirkby says: "Every hour, 9 acts will do 5 minutes each before the running total is announced. You don't have to stay for the whole thing; a fiver gets you a wristband meaning you can stay for as little or as long as you want. You can even go and come back later!"

This year, all proceeds from the event will be going towards Barnardo's, one of the UK's leading children's charities.

Over £3,000 was raised in the first two years; for St Mary's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House in Manchester in 2017; and for Saying Goodbye in 2018, a charity which supports families who have lost babies during pregnancy, at birth or during infancy.

For those who can't attend but would still like to donate, a JustGiving page has been created.

The mammoth show will take place at TriBeCa Bar in Manchester, with doors opening at 12:30pm and acts crossing the finishing line at 11pm. Wristbands can be purchased on the door for a fiver.
