· You could try following a local, Nat Wicks - @natwicks - who was a regular round here and asking her? (Maybe she was South Shields, can't recall).

· Advertise locally, try open mikes and so on?

· Be prepared to travel to get better gigs.

· Give a forth option here when you've thought of it.

Go for a captive audience, try your local prisons.

Bus queues, they will move on to the next stop if you're awful, but you have to be really poor. They will of course get on the next bus so keep it to one-liners.

On summer days, cars (with their windows down) stopped at traffic lights, they may not laugh but they'll be pleased you're not trying to clean their windscreen.

Harry Dry, I would just echo the good advice you've had to-date. Open mike is a must. Promoting a video thought social media is also something to consider. Welcome to the forum.
