Based on the excellent Brandon family books by the late Peter Tiniswood. This dour sitcom starred Robin Bailey, Liz Smith and Stephen Rea. Set in Yorkshire, central character Uncle Mort's (Bailey) look on life is that you have to be 'miserable to be happy'. Classic line 'I like boredom, it fills in gap between meals.'

Very good from what I remember though, especially Uncle Mort.
