Pear Cider Page 2

Koppaberg all the way

That is the only one I've tried as I'm not a great cider drinker but it would taste nicer on a hot summer's day al fresco I reckon.

Yes and no glass with ice, straight from the fridge out of a bottle

Unlike cider which does not taste of apples Pear Cider (at least a good one) does taste of pears. Of course if you don't like pears....

I'm not a fan. There's a huge pear tree at the end of my garden though. You can come and pick some if you'd like?

Bet it's dead expensive in Canada.

Do you have any native ciders in Canada?

Yea it's really expensive over here. We have a few brands made in Canada but they are all DISGUSTING!!! Canadians do not know how to make Cider BLAH! I got crazy sick off 'Grany Smith's' Apple cider. They claim to use 'English recipes'. I was so sick off it that I still can't smell the stuff without feeling ill.

In Ontario you can only buy booze from either the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) store or beer from 'The Beer Store'. So it's easy to see what is available in Ontario...because there is only one place you can buy booze.

Do you know it's like Jilly Goolding and Oz Clarke all wrapped into one.

I like Magners. Lately the Strongbow (which for some reason isn't on that list) at the LCBO has tasted a bit sour. I may switch to Magners soon but i'll probably try that Pear one soon.

As for other JD brands: try JD's Sour Smash. I hear it's good.

Pomegranate? Granny Smiths?

Is Canada full of alkies with a sense of irony?

And it's not pear cider it's perry.

Jeez is wine, grape cider, is coca cola aolcohol free, kola nut cider?

Real cider tastes of apples. Proper stuff out of the cask that tastes like apple juice and that you don't realise how strong it is until you get off your bar stool and your knees bend a lot more than you expect.

For bottled try Aspells Premier Cru (first press) it's jolly nice.

From Suffolk mind.

:)

I like the Kopparberg pear cider, but not many places sell it, only the larger chain pubs. (I think they also do a blackberry cider!) Now Bulmers are doing a pear cider and more pubs stock that, but I don't think it's as nice as the Kopparberg. I will have to have another and work out why not.

Just bought some this morning on the way to work for tonight. Called St. Helier Pear Cider. It looked really bad buying cider at half eight in the morning, but oh well, save me going in tonight.
