Gig to mark 50th anniversary of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band

The Gonzo 'Dog Do' Bar Band

Fringe favourites The Gonzo 'Dog Do' Bar Band and Martin White's Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra are joining forces to mark the anniversary of the formation of the iconic Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band...

This summer marks the 50th anniversary of a homeless Vivian Stanshall meeting Rodney Slater at the Pillars of Hercules pub in Soho and forming The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, the world's first and only Dadaist ensemble combining music hall, psychedelic rock, trad jazz and explosions.

For one night only - Sunday 15th July - The Gonzo 'Dog Do' Bar Band, the only known tribute act for the band, will be revisiting such songs as I'm The Urban Spaceman, Canyons of Your Mind and Mr. Apollo. Ringleader Matt Perret will be joined on stage by Jeremy Limb, Dan Mersh & Paul Litchfield (The Trap), Chris Limb, Martin White and Ali Murray.

Previous Gonzo gigs have seen special appearances from the likes of Kevin Eldon, John Hegley, Miranda Hart and Alan Moore - and the organisers are promising 'more weird and wonderful guests' can be expected on this night.

Additionally, Martin White's 24-piece baroque-pop ensemble The Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra will be dishing out their own brand of original cabaret numbers too. With full strings, brass and woodwinds, The Mystery Fax Machine Orchestra will also join The Gonzos at the end of the evening for 'a grand orchestral climax'.

Organisers say: "So what are you waiting for, you four-stone apology? Let the Gonzos turn you into Two Separate Gorillas!"
