Forget Blue Monday, I'm writing this during the most sobering part of the year for many of us: tax-return week, the few days where you're finally forced to face up to how well your chosen career is genuinely going. Whoever came up with the term 'Self Assessment' really hit the nail on the head. It's the moment where cold, hard figures essentially tell us whether or not we're failing. Fun times.
