The London-based stand-up competition is open for entries again.
Leicester Square Theatre's annual New Comedian of the Year competition is open for entries again, with hundreds of acts anticipated to compete for the coveted title and the £1,000 prize.
Now in its 15th year, Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year has been a launchpad for some of the comedy circuit's most popular names. Previous winners and finalists include Nigel Ng, Rob Beckett, Rachel Parris, Sofie Hagen, Tim Renkow, Jessica Fostekew, Ania Magliano, Rosie Holt, Dan Tiernan, Alasdair Beckett-King, Ali Woods, Chloe Petts, Tez Ilyas and Viggo Venn. Last year's winner was Sallyann Fellowes (pictured).
The competition is open to any non-professional act who's been performing for 5 years or less and entries from character acts, musical acts and sketch groups are welcome. The only restriction is that all contestants must stick to 5 minutes of material or risk disqualification.
A series of heats will take place at the Museum of Comedy between August and November, before a live audience and panel of esteemed industry judges select the winner at the Leicester Square Theatre on 8th December.
