AudioGO launches stand-up competition

Audiobook publisher AudioGO has launched a new online comedy performance competition.
'Stand Up and Get Heard' is billed as a unique opportunity for budding stand-ups to get noticed and win some prizes in the process.
The contest, which is free to enter, has been launched by the company to help highlight its sponsorship of the Pleasance Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival.
To enter 'Stand Up and Get Heard', comedians need to send an MP3 of a section of their stand-up set, or a sketch, to AudioGO, who will then upload that to their Facebook page.
The best routine, as decided by AudioGO, will win two tickets to see a comedy show at the Pleasance Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival, as well as train fares and overnight accommodation in Edinburgh - a package valued at over £400.
In addition, the top three entrants will also be given the opportunity to visit the AudioGO studios in Bath, where they will have their sketch professionally recorded.
Rachel Josephson from AudioGO says: "We love stand-up, which is why we're sponsoring the Pleasance Theatre, one of the Festival's main venues, for the third year in a row. AudioGO is home to some of the best contemporary and classic British comedy of the past 60 years, so the 'Stand Up and Get Heard' competition is a unique opportunity for fresh new comedy talent to follow in the footsteps of stars such as Richard Herring, Rhod Gilbert, Lee Mack and many more.
"We will decide the three winners but comedy fans are encouraged to show their appreciation for their favourite routines by 'Liking' entries."
To enter 'Stand Up and Get Heard' you need to be based in the UK and aged 18 or over. You should record an original sketch or routine of up to two minutes in length and send it as an MP3 to standup@audioGO.co.uk - include your full name, address and contact details in the email.
The deadline is Friday 26th July 2013. Winners will be contacted on 29th July 2013. Full terms and conditions can be found on the AudioGO Facebook page
