On opening night of the Edinburgh fringe festival 2022, I sold one ticket. I did the show anyway and the story was picked up by the BBC, "One person turned up to my fringe show", and became the 3rd most viewed story on the entire BBC website, went globally viral and featured in 80+ news and media outlets worldwide. I sold out the show and a UK tour. I thought for 2023, it would be funny to have one audience member sat in the biggest venue I could access. The wonderful team at the iconic Edinburgh Playhouse kindly obliged and I managed to get Mike, the original audience member from opening night in 2022 to sit in the empty theatre. Trudy Stade captured the image perfectly and it looks simple, eye catching and amazing. I called the show "An Audient with Robin Grainger" because it was the word used by legendary Comedy Critic Kate Copstick who wrote about the show. The title is also an ode to a comedy hero of mine, Billy Connolly whose special "An Audience with Billy Connolly is a classic. On the front cover of his special, Billy is wearing an animal print shirt, which I also wore in my photo. The designer Dani also managed the match the colour and font style to mimic Connolly's cover too.
