2001 was when the very first series of Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps hit our screens. The characters and cast are introduced at the start of the series, and it doesn't take long for the bad behaviour to begin. The series ends on a cliff hanger - what does Donna have to tell Gaz?
With the second series picking up good ratings, the BBC commissioned this longer ten episode third series. Two new characters were also introduced, David and Munch. Cue more fun and problems for the group of friends, oh and some bondage! At the end of 2003 a musical special was broadcast, in which the story of how Jonny and Janet first met was told via some well-crafted musical numbers.
At the start of series four Janet has had enough and, feeling she's fallen out of love with Jonny, decides to leave him. This series ended with a cliff-hanger - Jonny was shot by the police and his life was in the balance. The audience were asked to txt in to decide the outcome.
Series five was a massive fourteen episodes long. It started on a real cliff-hanger, had Jonny survived the police SWAT team? Initially it looked like he was dead, becuase the first episode starts with a funeral - thankfully it turns out he is alive though. However, all is not well... it turns out the funeral is for Donna's mum Flo. Things soon cheer up with the arrival of baby Corinthian and a wedding.
In the 2006 series, Gaz and Jonny have some particularly tricky questions to answer: Which one of them is really father to Janet's little boy? And will Janet actually cast them adrift and take a job-of-a-lifetime aboard a cruise ship? If that wasn't excitement enough, Louise uncovers shocking revelations about her parentage.
The 2008 series kicked off with an episode broadcast live from BBC Television Centre. The Archer re-opens after its refurb, and Louise, Janet and Donna compete against each other for the job of barmaid. It soon becomes apparent that Jonny (Ralf Little) has left the comedy... he has been killed off-screen. Janet must try to get through the five stages of grief as quickly as possible.
This series was Donna return from London because she was missing her Runcorn roots. She introduced her new boyfriend, Wesley, to the gang. At the end of the series there was a viewer vote via the BBC website to decide whether Gaz should stay with Janet or Donna. A two-part special, broadcast around Christmas 2009, revealed all...
