Gerald and the Health and Safety team are under pressure from the Mayor of Baselricky to prove that playing conkers is dangerous enough to warrant safety measures. Meanwhile, Susan pushes Gerald to invite his ex-wife Valerie over to start repairing the family rift.

Gerald and the Health and Safety team are under pressure from the Mayor of Baselricky to prove that playing conkers is dangerous enough to warrant safety measures.

The Health and Safety team's increasingly desperate investigations into the hazards posed by playing conkers land them in more than one compromising situation. Gerald is ultimately saved from dismissal by a twist of fate involving a small ball of chocolate.

Meanwhile, Susan pushes Gerald to invite his ex-wife Valerie and her new boyfriend, brusque Aussie fitness trainer Kyle over for some of Gerald's famous homemade quiche, in order to start repairing the family rift.

However, Susan finds Kyle to be less than ideal as a match for her mother and when an announcement from Valerie sends her into a panic, she hatches a plan to get her parents back together again.
