Based on the popular series of books by H.E. Bates, The Larkins was the comedy hit of 2021.

Famously previously adapted for television in the early 1990s as The Darling Buds Of May (starring David Jason), the stories of 1950s Kent life and the cheery, down-to-Earth Larkin family have long delighted readers and television audiences across the world.

In this new series - written by Simon Nye - Ma and Pa Larkin are played by Joanna Scanlan and Bradley Walsh, with Sabrina Bartlett as eldest child Mariette, and Tok Stephen as Charley, the London tax inspector who comes to audit their smallholding and soon falls in love with not just Mariette, but the family's joyous, care-free way of life.

Enjoying support from the likes of Peter Davison, Amelia Bullmore, Seeta Indrani, Kriss Dosanjh, Robert Bathurst and Tony Gardner, as other local villagers, the six-part series ran from 10th October on ITV, instantly entertaining millions and swiftly returning for a Christmas special.

Series 1 was released on Blu-ray and DVD by Dazzler just ahead of Christmas.
