Whilst attending the graves of his five late (and heavily insured) wives, Lawrence Warner meets a fellow mourner; widow Mildred Evans. After a casual conversation in the cemetery, they retire to a nearby pub and his intentions toward her and her late husband's considerable estate become all too apparent. Just a fortnight later the pair are married, but Lawrence still has a lot to learn about his new wife.
