The Gaffer - The Complete Third Series

Bill Maynard (Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt) is Fred Moffat, the tight-fisted yet quick-thinking director of a struggling light-engineering firm, in this cleverly scripted, bittersweet sitcom which regularly attracted audiences of over 16 million. Pat Ashton also stars as the Gaffer's glamorous secretary Betty, and Russell Hunter is militant shop steward Harry.

This third and final series, originally broadcast in 1983, finds the Gaffer still struggling to stay afloat, attempting to make his mark as a local councillor, and, in exasperation with his recalcitrant workforce, adopting Japanese-style working practices to try to boost productivity. When all else fails, Moffat comes up with another solution: emigration to Australia...
