Arnold and Rene Barnes run The Ritz, a dowdy cinema which has not kept pace with the times. They still serve their patrons tea during the interval and their establishment would not look out of place in a museum. Their happy and peaceful existence is shattered by George Podmore, a slick young salesman who wants to make a quick profit by showing some sexy films.
