All Series

Series 1 (1990)

At the age of 60, and after 26 years of loyal service, Victor is retired from his job as a security guard. He faces up to the prospect of a future of endless boredom. He certainly didn't expect dead animals, house-wrecking kids, nude painting classes and snakes in holiday luggage!

Series 2 (1990)

The second series gets off to an interesting start... the Meldrew's house has burnt down and they have no option but to move. Who thought meeting the neighbours, decorating and visitors could be so much hard work?

Series 3 (1991 - 1992)

1992 isn't a particularly good year for Victor and Margaret. Being burgled is just the start of their problems - Margaret goes missing, their neighbours house is flooded thanks to Victor, Mr Swainey kindly gives them a cursed present and they get stuck in a traffic jam with Mrs Warboys on board.

Series 4 (1993)

The war between Patrick and Victor is in full swing. Meanwhile plenty of nasty surprises are building up including a troublesome magician's meeting, 101 illnesses for Victor (well, in his mind) and a man called Ben whom Margaret met on holiday. In the Christmas special the Meldrew's have a horrific holiday in Portugal.

Series 5 (1994 - 1995)

Victor probably wished he could have skipped 1995. It didn't start off well what with Mrs Warboys coming to stay whilst her flat is repaired. There are plenty of other embarrassing situations especially at a certain Armenian restaurant.

Series 6 (2000 - 2001)

Victor was back in the millennium for one final series. It was certainly eventful what with summer power cuts, a house cleaner, medical tests and Patrick's brother all causing problems. These were nothing though compared to the fate which befalls Victor outside a pub.
