Amazon Prime Video will stream Alan Partridge Live: Stratagem this winter.

Deadline revealed that the platform's managing director confirmed that a recording of the live show would be available to its Prime subscribers "towards the end of the year, let's say winter."

Steve Coogan toured his famous character around arenas this April and May, with the blurb for the show saying: "Love him or loathe him, we all love Alan Partridge.

"Over a multi-decade broadcasting career, this wonderful and surprisingly well-read man has brought delight to millions. And now, in a country riven with discord and disease, Alan is touring the country with a message of hope.

"Welcome to Stratagem with Alan Partridge, a live stage show that promises to inform, educate and entertain in approximately equal measure.

"Wearing a head-mic favoured by TED talkers, market hawkers, TV evangelists, backing singers and carnival barkers, Alan combines all these roles and more. It's a manifesto for the way we can move forward, a roadmap to a better tomorrow, an ABC for the way to be."

The show was recorded by producers Phil McIntyre Entertainments and Baby Cow Productions when it was at London's O2 Arena last month.

Amazon is currently working on building up its catalogue of exclusive comedy specials. Executive Chris Bird told Deadline that "looking at the biggest and best UK shows for this year, Alan Partridge really stood out.

"Personally, for me, he's a national institution - a fantastically popular and engaging character.

"Steve and his team have created a gargantuan success with him, so we were thrilled to be able to pick up the rights and launch him later this year on Prime Video."

The executive also confirmed that Amazon will "do the requisite filming to complete a home-viewing experience as opposed to the stadium experience", which will include Coogan shooting introduction and closing pieces for Amazon.

A launch date for Alan Partridge Live: Stratagem will be revealed later this year.
