Nick Mohammed and Alistair Green are to star in Netflix end-of-year mockumentary Death To 2021, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

Lucy Liu, Stockard Channing and The Good Place's William Jackson Harper have also joined the cast, with Diane Morgan, Hugh Grant, Tracey Ullman and Samson Kayo returning from Death To 2020.

A teaser trailer for the special shows Morgan as Gemma Nerrick, one of the world's five most average citizens, Zoom dating Geoff, played by Green. Green's profile has risen significantly over lockdown thanks to his hit one-man online sketches.

Launching on December 27th, the end-of-year round-up will once again blend fictitious talking head interviews and archive footage, with the global coronavirus pandemic likely to once again dominate the satire.

However, Charlie Brooker, who fronted similar Wipe shows on the BBC from 2009 to 2016, and whose production company Broke & Bones makes Death To 2021, will not reprise his role as the off-screen voice of the mockumentary's director, and has stepped back from his executive producer role.

A Netflix spokesperson told BCG that making other programming for the streaming giant was now "demanding his time".

Grant will again play fusty British historian Tennyson Foss in Death To 2021, with Ullman returning as the Queen and Kayo as earnest scientist Pyrex Flask.

Joe Keery is also back as gig economy millennial Duke Goolies, with Cristin Milioti returning as Kathy Flowers, a self-described American "soccer mom", essentially representing hysterical "Karens".

The characters of the incoming cast, the identity of the off-screen director and the narrator, a role previously taken by Laurence Fishburne in Death To 2020 - which also featured Samuel L Jackson, Lisa Kudrow, Leslie Jones and Kumail Nanjiani - have yet to be revealed.

Death To 2021 is written by Ben Caudell (Cunk On Britain) and the directors were Jack Clough (People Just Do Nothing) and Josh Ruben (Adam Ruins Everything). Nick Vaughan-Smith (Screenwipe) produces and Annabel Jones (Black Mirror) and Caudell executive produce for Broke & Bones (Attack Of The Hollywood Clichés!).
