Sophie Willan wins BAFTA comedy writing award

Sophie Willan has won the comedy writing prize at the BAFTA Craft Awards 2021, for her Alma's Not Normal pilot script.
Broadcast in April 2020, Alma's Not Normal follows Boltonian wild-child Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women. A full series is now being filmed, to broadcast on BBC Two later this year.
The results were revealed in an online video stream. Willan was watching alongside co-star Jayde Adams and fellow stand-up comedian Jonny Pelham. Adams captured the moment Willan discovered she had won:
