  • Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled is to return to Dave after a break of four years
  • Ten new hour-long episodes of the chat show format are to be recorded in December and January
  • The channel says: "Alan has such a gift for teasing brilliant stories and humour out of people"

Chat show format Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled is to return to Dave for a new series.

The programme, in which the QI star sat around a table with four guests to discuss whatever topics came up, ran for five series between 2014 and 2017, totalling 44 episodes.

Network UKTV has now confirmed the format will return in early 2021 for a ten-part sixth series.

The format of Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled - in which guests are spaced out around a table - is one that naturally allows for social distancing to be maintained. Each of the new hour-long episodes will be recorded during December and January at The Roundhouse in Camden.

Producers explain: "The show recreates the relaxed atmosphere found amongst bantering comics backstage and elicits anecdotes and interaction that you simply won't get anywhere else. There are no rules, no themes and no preparation. All Alan has is one amazing fact about each of them, after which, the conversation could spiral in any direction.

"At the end of each episode, the table must try and think of a title that sums up their episode."

The channel confirms: "Last on air in 2017, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled welcomed a mix of high-profile stars with up and coming talent, offering a much-needed platform for new comedians. Guests included Stephen Fry, Catherine Tate and Katherine Ryan plus Lou Sanders, Lucy Beaumont and Romesh Ranganathan, all sharing funny stories about everything from brushes with royalty to bizarre encounters and an insight into life on the comedy road."

Iain Coyle, who commissioned the new series, says: "I love this show, it's always warm, engaging and hilarious. Alan has such a gift for teasing brilliant stories and humour out of people, it always makes me want to be around the table with them."

Dave's spring schedule will feature Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled alongside Hypothetical and new panel show Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable.
