The stars of This Country are working on a new comedy project.
Daisy May Cooper has revealed that she and her brother Charlie have begun writing a new show, set in the past.
Speaking on White Wine Question Time podcast, Daisy May said: "Charlie and I have started writing our new thing, which is very, very different. It's a period thing and it couldn't be more different from This Country... but it's funny."
Talking to host Kate Thornton, the comedy star said it was great to be writing for new characters, with actors in mind. "For This Country, we couldn't kind of write for 'names', like for famous actors, it would have to be [for] unknowns. So this is actually quite funny to have an actor in mind and be able to write a part for them specifically."
She added: "It's very, very early days but we're really enjoying it."
This Country ended in March after three series. Daisy May explained how they knew their next project would have to be completely different from their hit show, and they'd not be able to sound like their characters Kerry and Kurtan in the next thing too.
She said: "Actually, when we started writing this new thing, we started writing these new characters and it wasn't until halfway through we said, 'We've just written Kerry and Kurtan again! We're going to have to scrap it'."
Speaking about trying to follow on from This Country, she said: "You just doubt yourself and [think] 'that was a massive fluke' and we're never going to be able to write anything again. But I think the more we're getting into this new thing... it's just really exciting."
