Agatha Raisin is to return for a fourth series, British Comedy Guide can reveal.

Starring Ashley Jensen as the titular amateur detective, four more feature-length stories of the crime-based comedy drama have been ordered, ahead of the third series returning to Sky One on Wednesday 10th June.

However filming on the fourth series is currently on hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Series four is in development and planned when production resumes" a Sky spokesperson confirmed to BCG.

Set in the Cotswolds and based on the novels by M. C. Beaton, Sky initially dropped the show after its first series, but the American subscription service Acorn TV stepped in to recommission the murder-mystery comedy from 2018, with Sky picking up UK rights to the show.

Jodie Tyack (The Feed) joins the cast of Series 3's four story run, which is split across eight episodes. She plays Toni Gilmour, replacing Katy Wix's Gemma Simpson as Agatha's cleaner-cum-sidekick.

Guest stars include James Dreyfuss (Gimme Gimme Gimme), Gerry McLaughlin (Burnistoun) and actor, model and singer Patsy Kensit.
