The series follows the exploits of Ollie (Will Mellor), a reluctant painter, decorator and handyman who takes over the day-to-day jobs of the family business when his father (Clive Mantle) starts to suffer from heart problems.

Written by stand-up comedian Adrian Poynton, the six-part first series debuted on BBC Three in March 2011 and averaged 750,000 viewers - around a 5% audience share - but also proved popular during repeats and via iPlayer.

Poynton commented on Twitter: "Today's become a bit of a blur thanks to White Van Man Series 2 news. I currently keep walking into rooms and forgetting why I'm in there."

No further details have been confirmed at present, but the full cast are likely to return to the show, which is expected to be set shortly after the end of Series 1.

White Van Man is an ITV Studios production for the BBC.
