Inbetweeners win international award

The Inbetweeners, E4's hit sitcom written by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, has picked up another award. The comedy was given a presigious Rose d'Or Award for situation comedy at a gala last night at the international TV festival in Lucerne, Switzerland.

The other sitcoms nominated in the category were FM, Home Time, Krod Mandoon, Outnumbered, Pete Versus Life, Psychoville, This Is Jinsy and Denmark's Kristian.

The Inbetweeners, returned to TV last week for a third series, setting a new audience record for E4 in the process.

Benidorm Bastards, a hidden camera prank show from Belgium, took the Rose d'Or for best comedy and was also named the best programme of 2010.

Two Golden Jubilee Awards were presented at last night's event, specially created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the festival. They were given to Coronation Street and Simon Cowell for their outstanding contribution to entertainment television.
